Hamiltome: The Playlist

A19gf6jjO1LI recently read Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jeremy McCarter’s Hamilton: The Revolution, a detailed look at the making of Broadway’s hottest musical. It’s a great read whether you’ve seen the show or just listened to the cast recording on repeat.

As I read the book, I found myself overwhelmed by the number of times I thought to myself: “I need to listen to this.” Sampled work, inspirational work, fans of the show, comparisons by McCarter or outsiders: there’s a ton of music in and around Hamilton, and I wanted to hear all of it.

Thus, I flipped back to page one and tracked everything in the book. I made a Spotfiy playlist containing every song mentioned, plus a song from every show, album or artist mentioned. It’s 122 songs long, clocking in at 8+ hours. Enjoy!

After reading this Deadspin post, I wondered if the NHL might need something in between “no-penalty” and “team gets extra man advantage for 2 minutes.” What if there was simply a whistle to stop play and a faceoff? Would referees be less prone to putting the whistles away for fear of significantly impacting the game?

Fashion Flattering

In my duties as a stay-at-home dad, I’ve noticed that much of my daughter’s wardrobe (plus accessories) is incredibly flattering toward her mother. For example:

While this is surely deserved, I decided that if I wasn’t going to be flattered, I’d at least be acknowledged. Here are a few ideas:
