Bio

John Carroll is a 5’10” writer who hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

His writing has appeared in Philly Fiction 2 (Don Ron Books), Big Lucks, The Battered Suitcase, Versal, Interrobang!?, Stymie, Cleaver, and The Citron Review. John received his Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from American University.

He is one-half of the comedy duo Carroll √ľnd Klinger. Their work is published weekly on their home page. It has also appeared at Splitsider, Defenestration Magazine, and Funny or Die. John and Nick also collaborate on the satirical movie site The Critics Agree!

After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania in 2005, John worked several jobs around town: co-founding the web site Phillyist.com before taking a job as the Arts & Culture Editor at Philadelphia’s Evening Bulletin. Finally, John worked at the Kelly Writers House as their Assistant Director for Development before leaving to pursue his MFA degree in 2009.

In his plentiful spare time, John curates the web sites Poetry, by Google Voice (a collection of poems as translated by Google Voice) and Better Than Geno’s? (a catalog of reviews of “Philly cheesesteaks” from around the world).

John currently lives in the Washington, DC area with his wife, Rachael, their dog, Neko, and their cat, Mia. There may be a puppet involved as well, but no one’s saying right now.
