Jenna Wortham suggests a number of ways to blunt the impact that e-mail has on your life.

I’ve already tackled a number of these issues, although Mailstrom is a service I’ll try out this week.  The easiest thing you can do, though, is remove yourself from as many listservs as possible — particularly those belonging to corporations.  I decided that every time my e-mail dinged or my phone buzzed, I wanted to look at it with the assumption that I’d be seeing something that wasn’t sent to a million people, and was reasonably important to me.

It worked.
